On November 20, the Shuangyang West to Lianhuashan South section of the Yanji to Changchun Expressway officially opened to traffic. This marks a milestone for the expressway, increasing its total operational length to approximately 266 kilometers. The section was developed and operated by China Railway Investment Group.
Spanning 35 kilometers with a design speed of 120 kilometers per hour, the new four-lane highway begins in Lixiang Town, Shuangyang District, Changchun, and ends at the Lianhuashan Ecotourism Resort. It connects seamlessly with the existing Yantongshan to Shuangyang West segment of the expressway, providing direct access from Lianhuashan in Changchun to Yanbian Prefecture and the Changbai Mountain region.
The Yanji to Changchun Expressway is a critical component of China’s comprehensive national transportation network. It supports strategic initiatives such as the “6 Axes, 7 Corridors, 8 Channels” framework and strengthens Jilin Province’s infrastructure. This new central route (Changchun–Shuangyang–Huadian–Changbai Mountain) complements the existing northern and southern routes to Changbai Mountain, enhancing transportation efficiency and boosting the province’s status as a premier tourist destination. It is expected to play a key role in advancing Jilin’s high-quality development and revitalization.
