Asphalt pavement for BK highway in northwestern Kyrgyzstan, constructed by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group Co., Ltd., was completed on September 1.

Stretching 45.1 kilometers in length, BK highway is a key project as part of the Kyrgyzstani government’s efforts to rehabilitate and maintain highways, develop international transport corridors and expand the domestic road network. It connects the capital Bishkek and the second largest city Osh in Kyrgyzstan and serves as a thoroughfare leading to neighboring Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and China. Implementation of the project is of strategic importance for the economic, tourism and business development in the country, as well as the improvement of local people’s livelihood.
